Lines and Shapes & Workshop String Art

The Site-Specific "Lines and Shapes" was applied to the main stairway of Sesc São Paulo in 2018. Looking at the work from a distance, we have the illusion that it was produced with curves, but when approaching, we realize that  the curves are composed by straight lines. This Site-Specific art intrigued the unit's visitors by arousing curiosity with  the way it was executed and demonstrated. This art served as a starting point for the String Art workshop also taught by Franklin Silva.

String Art is the creation of shapes by means of threads , it can be done in a conventional way; using a wooden base, nails and strings, or it can be approached with alternative methods.  The interlacing of  threads is what creates visual effects   with straight lines, thus creating shapes and forms that are not necessarily linear and are transformed depending on the angle and distance of view. Other means of support can be used in addition to wood. As proposed in the workshop, Franklin used cardboard and acetate as alternative means of support to convey different aspects and create a more integrated conversation between the installation and the space.

SYNESTHESIA music and draw

This workshop was held at the E.E Professor Jose Duarte Junior school, São Paulo-SP, where we developed mechanisms to stimulate the participants' creativity. Creativity is something that we lose over time, the child can imagine a whole scenario with a cart in his hands, over time we lose this imaginary universe. Therefore, this synesthesia workshop with music and drawing rescues a little of this creative imagination.

Discovery Woodcut

Discovering woodcuts and linocuts, they experimented with forms of printing (lost matrix, styrofoam print for children, exploration of the shape of projected shadows, continuous matrix). The demonstrations and activated practices took place during the three months of the Madeira Nova exhibition curated by Célia Barros.
